Aromatherapy Skincare on TVSN and the Powerful Solstice

Video

Hello my natural beauties, I hope you are all well at this auspicious time of the solstice. I forgot a post last week as I was preparing to do another 2 live TV spots on TVSN, as a Brand Ambassador for Springfields Aromatherapy. I’m blaming the powerful blue moon solstice for my forgetfulness, and a little bit of nervous energy too.

Me in my dressing room

Me in my dressing room

It was an early start in hair and makeup with my beautiful friend Jason, then off to the studio to do 2 live shows, each an hour long.

Live TV is a bit nerve-wracking because there’s no saving grace. Anyway suddenly you’re on camera thinking “I hope I remember what to say’.

Then its over and the world keeps turning.

My friend took this screen shot:

And that was the second show and it was all over, again. I’ve got 2 more days this year – in spring and summer (southern hemisphere).

And speaking about hemispheres, the north just had the summer solstice and the south just experienced the winter solstice – yay! It seems that this was a cosmological blue moon  in Sagittarius, rather than a calendar blue moon, with powerful movements for us all. I’m not an expert so I’ve included a couple of links:

My summary is:

  • if you’ve been feeling overwhelmed lately there may be big breakthroughs coming up
  • a new chapter, or time in your life, may becoming a reality on a very deep level
  • end relationships that are not serving your higher purpose
  • acknowledge your spiritual conscious for this may be the driver of your new paradigm
  • be willing and courageous to forge ahead with a new way of life

My body oil blend for this time is:

For a coat of your body use 3 teaspoons of carrier oil in a little dish and, add 7 – 8 drops of essential oil. It’s always best to patch test first, before you apply all over.

***** Always put the drops of essential oil into the bottle or dish first, then add the carrier oil. It gives the scents time to create a synergistic fusion.

For a 50ml bottle of oil add 25 drops and see my articles “Ratios for Blending Essential Oils – A Reminder of the Basics” and “Aromatherapy – It’s Easy as 1 2 3”

“Blue Solstice”

“The Brain – Fast – Galactic

Essential oils work via the nose into different areas of the rain – both the cognitive and the ancient centres. The brain translates this information to effect change in the body and emotions.

The ancient part of the brain is called the Limbic System, which engages in the moments when a scent takes you to a specific memory. It is so strong you feel like you are right in that moment again.

Have you ever smelt something in the air and suddenly been connected to an event, time or person in your life? It could help you remember a holidays as a child, or being with a beloved elder who has passed. It is powerful and quick. Detecting a scent can also conjure deep negative feelings about something too. Although the process of scent and emotions can be scientifically reduced to a point, it’s the bewitching nature of these instances that are the most fascinating. Are we connected to the past or are we connecting to multi-dimensional existences.

Essential oils have been used for thousands of years through many cultures, to inspire mind-altered states, offer beauty and inspire creativity. Using essential oils may help with creating better feeling emotions, and in turn, simply be default, diminish emotions and feelings like stress and uneasiness.

If the body is earthly, then the mind is resonating on a galactic level. The mind connects the body to heavenly possibilities. Dr Joe Dispenza, a great neuro-scientist, says the mind is the brain in action.

Essential oils,

allows us to

  • open our minds – quite literally, as the scent travels the nose into the brain

  • awaken our mind, to logically define desires and goals

  • be motivated to take action toward our desired life

  • cohere the mind and body, to help determine our place in the world”

Rosemary on the hospital lobby floor

Rosemary on the hospital lobby floor

I was leaving a busy Sydney hospital this morning, and as I was walking and looking down I saw this sprig of rosemary.

Initially I thought “take a pic”, but kept walking.

A second later I said to myself “you’re an Aromatherapist its your duty to show respect”.

I walked back and took this photo.

I thanked the rosemary.

I watched as people walked around it for a few minutes.

I wondered if they were also showing respect to this powerful plant.

I saw a sign. I wonder if anyone else did?

Rosemary = remember.

Remember? Huh? Remember what?

“Remember” is a term often used by spiritual people, spiritual movements and those on the path of evolution to signify that we have been here before. It may be in a parallel universe, and/or a multidimensional existence in all directions of space-time. It can be seen as a tool to stimulate DNA evolution and therefore the evolution of mankind into the next age on earth.

Rosemary is also used in aromatherapy to stimulate memory and brain function, to warm the muscles and stimulate blood flow to all parts of the body.

So whatever you believe, rosemary is sent to help us remember something and get moving.

Rosemary

Sharp and strong, the scent of rosemary essential oil will awaken and stimulate your brain. Rosemary is for remembering. Remember that. Hehehehe. I’ve made my mum “smelling salts” and the main ingredient is rosemary. Just open a bottle and have a whff in the morning if you can’t wake up, or put a few drops in the bottom of the shower and have a whole body steam. This ancient herb oil has been with us for centuries which proves it’s hardiness and usefulness, even in today’s modern society. And it’s inexpensive, easy to find, and easy to grow if you have a bit of sun. For some recipes check out

Basil

Refreshing and uplifting, the scent of basil can be quite soft as well as pungent. Often described in aromatherapy terms as “cephalic” (pertaining to the head), it is an expansive oils as it works on your mind and your brain. What’s the diff between your mind and your brain? The brain is the organ which helps run the body performing amazing functions at a very small level. “The mind is the brain in action” says Dr Joe Dispenza the wonderful neuroscientist. The mind is multi-dimensional and allows us to understand, comprehend and evolve. Have a whiff of basil to open yourself to the intelligence of the universe, and help you wake up to do your everyday work and chores. Check out these recipes

I Love Lemons!

I’ve always wondered about where this saying came from: “When life gives you lemons, make lemonade”. In this article I’m on the hunt for its author, and ponder why the amazing lemon has such a bad wrap. It does give us nutrition, flavour, colour, and of course lemon essential oil!

Well of course the easy answer is that the fruit is sour. So if life is sour to you, add sugar, reinvent the moment and prosper.

The phrase was initially coined by Christian anarchist writer Elbert Hubbard in a 1915 obituary he penned and published for dwarf actor Marshall P. Wilder. The obituary, entitled The King of Jesters, praises Wilder’s optimistic attitude and achievements in the face of his disabilities:

“He was a walking refutation of that dogmatic statement, Mens sana in corpore sano. His was a sound mind in an unsound body. He proved the eternal paradox of things. He cashed in on his disabilities. He picked up the lemons that Fate had sent him and started a lemonade-stand.” Wikipedia

lemon The phrase was adopted again in the 1940’s by a couple of authors and especially attributed to Dale Carnegie, in his revolutionary self-help book How to Stop Worrying and Start Living, first printed in the UK in 1948.

Ok, so most people won’t eat a lemon like an orange (some do though), but its flavour is a must-have for the kitchen.

And then there’s the rind which is often overlooked, but when it’s used in a dish makes something unmistakably divine. This flavour comes from the essential oil tucked away in little pockets all through the tough skin. This essential oil can do so many wonderful things, and is a fresh happy scent that appeals to young and old alike.

Lemon essential oil is an uplifting oil with a sweet innocence about it, but don’t be fooled – it has a solid place in modern aromatherapy.

Some aromatherapists and scientific data claim lemon oil is good for:

  • stimulating the action of white blood cells
  • killing bacteria in the gut
  • soothing and lessening varicose veins
  • tonifying the circulatory system and aiding high blood pressure
  • helping the body shed excess fluids
  • decreasing cellulite
  • improving concentration
  • easing rheumatic pain & gout pain
  • stopping the flow of blood with cuts and abrasions

…… and the list continues.

And from my book “Revelation! Reveal Your Destiny with Essential Oils”:

Lemon

refresh, reload

This gorgeous fruit and oil is a real winner for me. Even Martha Stewart commented on Oprah, that the one thing she really missed in prison, was lemons. They have a myriad of uses both with the juice, flesh and rind, but we will be focusing on the essential oil that comes from the rind. When I think lemon oil I think, “refresh”, “reload” like the refresh button on your computer. Aromatherapists use this oil for a variety of purposes, but to me it means start again. This oil is often used for cleaning so in that sense it helps clear the air, clear your energy and clear your perspective. It’s the oil of fresh starts.”

How to Smell an Essential Oil

question-mark

Is there a correct way to smell an essential oil?

Well, I suppose the most important thing is to be careful if you’re a sensitive person.

Once you’ve had the experience of the essential oil you can probably be a bit more adventurous with how deep your inhalation is. Inhaling an essential oil can wake you up, stimulate your brain, and give you a wonderful burst of healing scent.

There’s a cute tip in here too – how to sample a blend of oils before you go ahead and scent your space or make a body oil blend. I might say “stunning” a few too many times …..

Thanks so much for watching lovey people.

Fountain of Youth

Chapter 12

Another look in between the covers of my book

The fountain of youth fable appears in many cultures but is t real?

The fountain of youth fable appears in many cultures but is it real?

Ahh yes the fountain of youth. Wouldn’t it be great to drink water from a fountain and not only look young, but remain youthful for eternity. Sounds like more of a curse to me, but in everyday life we think of youthfulness as a remedy to all our problems. And usually this youthful glow refers to our skin and how old or young we actually look.

But what about having a youthful mind?

And a youthful spirit?

Well thankfully essential oils can address youthfulness on all levels of our existence.

The beautiful Sophia Loren

“There is a fountain of youth: it is your mind, your talents, the creativity you bring to your life and the lives of people you love. When you learn to tap this source, you will have truly defeated age.”

Thanks Sophia.

1. Use essential oils on your skin

“Physical – oils for the face and body

Some essential oils are known for stimulating cell regeneration and they are deemed cytophylactic. Use these oils to communicate with your skin and help with production of new cells. Other oils have been traditionally used to have a soothing, calming and emollient effect. Oils that have been classified as anti-inflammatory may also hep your skin by their cooling action.”

Take a huge whiff to change your focus in seconds – but don’t overdo it!

2. Use essential oils on your mind

Just by using essential oils and making your own potions, you will not only fuel your creative fire, but you’ll also be inhaling essential oils too. Your thinking mind can be eased as the molecules in essential oils are absorbed into some sections of your brain. This action can help with moods, and have a flow-on effect throughout your body with hormones and other chemical messengers.

What we do every day has far reaching energetic waves

We are what we think we are, and how we project ourselves into the world

3. Use essential oils for your spirit

“Using essential oils to by-pass your self-imposed limits is the key to accessing the fountain of youth. Your heart will open to the beauty of life when you are surrounded by the natural scent of essential oil.

Grab any essential oil you can and take a big sniff to activate the part of you that knows infinity.”
