Essential Oils and Their Keywords – Part 1

Essential oils tend to be grouped together as to their physical healing properties – but what about the way they treat our spirit and minds too? For example marjoram, lavender and rosemary are great for muscles; rose, geranium and patchouli are wonderful for skin health; fennel and juniper can help relieve joint swelling. Of course essential oils often have more than one quality and the art of aromatherapy allows synergistic combinations to be formulated to expand their individual powers. Read on to discover how I feel about some of my favourite oils.

1. Playful and colourful this heart also represents the old TV test patterns. Are you testing the waters with a new relationship or are you starting to feel ready to love again? Either way BLACK PEPPER is for you to give you courage to pursue new relationships, new connections, and to give you strength to open up to the big wide world in all respects – not just love. 2. Red for passion, but this heart has a key. Are you the keymaster ready to open someone’s heart with your love? Or are you the holder of the heart and key, not quite ready to give your love away. This heart could also represent stagnation and fear, an inability to move forward because you are holding on to the past. JUNIPER is the oil for you, to allow you to release any negativity in your life. Release tears and fears, and cleanse your space with this beautiful oil. Juniper is light yet powerful and can help you start again with a new attitude.

Pink and purple heart

3. Romance is for you! You are either a romantic at heart or you are about to fall in love. All soft and dreamy this heart will allow you to see the good in everyone, and allow you to be forgiving and accepting to those in your life. PATCHOULI is the oil for you to help you stay more grounded, while enhancing your love of peace and harmony. If this doesn’t seem like you then patchouli will help you acknowledge the power of the one love of the universe that binds us together. Mother nature, faeries and elementals are your friends and you will be able to communicate with them more easily with the very earthy scents of patchouli.

Old fashioned ornate heart

4. This ornate floral heart looks like a door wreath from Victorian times and brings to mind simplicity in its form and colour. Black and white, you can see the world has good and not-so-good elements and can cope quite easily with this knowledge. You are an old soul with varied experiences and ROSE is the oil for you. You may need to soften your heart, or help those around you to see love as a positive force. You have loved and been loved but may have become slightly jaded over the years. Rose will help you treat yourself with softness and kindness and perhaps even attract a new love toward you. You tend to take on others problems, so now is the time for YOU. You are the queen. You are worthy of self love and self care. It’s ok to have a time-out and say no to other people.

Blue bubble heart

5. Sparkly and friendly you always attract people who are drawn to your outgoing and fun personality! If this doesn’t sound like you, then what you need is to open your heart and mind to the possibilities of actually enjoying life. PETITGRAIN is the oil for you to keep you buzzing with beautiful, citrus happiness energy or to bring out these qualities you have been hiding from the world. Petitgrain, the oil of potentiality will help you take life in it’s stride and expect wonderful things to happen everyday. Each minute contains a potential miracle and with petitgrain you will smile and be able to allow wonderful things to manifest. We need you to be this bubbly force in our lives, so we can all be optimists!

Wo Oh Black Pepper

Last week on YouTube I talked about black pepper essential oil. We have discussed this oil here before, and it has appeared in many recipes too.

Black pepper is a warming stimulating oil, and is a great oil to use for courage. Once again I get my words a bit muddled, but onwards and upwards!

For more info on this beautiful oil check out “Black Pepper – A Strong Essential Oil with a Soft Scent “.

Happy blending and remember to use your intention when you are creating your formulas. See my article about intention.

Thanks so much!

Festivus for the Rest of Us! Unashamedly a Re-Blog from Last Year!

Festivus for the Rest of Us! pic via thewordzombie.com

Festivus for the Rest of Us! pic via thewordzombie.com

I’ve always loved Seinfeld (the comedy show), and its whacky way of looking at the world. This is one on the hundreds of moments that have stayed with me, and Wikipedia sums it up perfectly:

Festivus, a well-celebrated parody, has become a secular holiday celebrated on December 23 which serves as an alternative to participating in the pressures and commercialism of the Christmas holiday season.

Originally a family tradition of scriptwriter Dan O’Keefe working on the American sitcom Seinfeld, the holiday entered popular culture after it was made the focus of a 1997 episode of the program. The holiday’s celebration, as it was shown on Seinfeld, includes a Festivus dinner, an unadorned aluminum “Festivus pole,” practices such as the “Airing of Grievances” and “Feats of Strength,” and the labeling of easily explainable events as “Festivus miracles.”

The episode refers to it as “a Festivus for the rest of us”, referencing its non-commercial aspect. It has also been described as a “parody holiday festival” and as a form of playful consumer resistance.”

So whether you celebrate Christmas, Hanukkah or any other tradition that I don’t know about; or you prefer not to celebrate any of these,  there is always Festivus to bring us all together. It’s nearly the end of the year so basically let’s all come together and celebrate that.

So here’s a few essential oil recipes to scent your home and which I feel reflect the true meaning of Festivus.

Dharma & Work

Chapter 8

Dharma & Work

Another look in between the covers of my book

What we do every day has far reaching energetic waves

What we do every day has far-reaching energetic waves

Have you ever heard the word dharma before? It is a Sanskrit word and it denotes, not only our jobs and work, but where we fit in the world and how we achieve our spirit’s desires.

“It can include religion, social justice, jobs, awareness, thoughts and deeds, and relates to our true place in the cosmic process. It means more than what we do for work, it speaks to the more profound meaning of our souls”

Suzanne

To find your true place in the world start using essential oils. The practice of aromatherapy will help you open your upper chakras to divine intelligence, and allow you to fulfill your destiny (by giving you the confidence to move beyond your perceived limits).

If you are actually looking for a new job, add a few drops of essential oils to your job hunting exercises and allow your ego to step back. Add your intention and trust the perfect job is already there for you – just catch up to it!

Black pepper

Black pepper

Black pepper

This wonderful spice makes a beautiful essential oil, and although you may need to take care with the amounts you use (too much can harm the skin), don’t be afraid to take a whiff from the bottle, add it to your vapouriser, or put a couple of drops into an oil blend for your body.

Black pepper is all about taking action. it will help you gain courage to pursue your dreams!

“How we spend our days is, of course, how we spend our lives”

Annie Dillard, Author

So how do you spend your days? In a job you hate, desperate for each holiday, but you’re hanging in there because the money is good?

Or are you throwing away the demands and expectations of western society and pursuing your dreams, so in turn you may inspire others to do the same? This may sound selfish but in doing this you are adding another extra surge of energy to our evolution.

Petitgrain is a green citrus with an uplifting scent

Petitgrain is a green citrus with an uplifting scent

Petitgrain

Petitgrain is also an oil of happiness as it helps relieve anxiety and tension. To me it is the promise of good things to come.

“When you can be a bit more relaxed about the search for your purpose in this world, more opportunities will present themselves to you. Find new opportunities, new projects, new thoughts and feelings, new rituals and a new outlook with petitgrain”

Suzanne

Please spend your days, or at least some time each day, with your true desires to be revealed to you through your work. Sometimes it may just be the case of renewed passion for the job you currently have – and then its easy! By using essential oils daily, the scent will transform your soul and you will have no choice but to follow your dreams.
